The Nightingale
This project was based on The Nightingale. The first time I read the story one of the illustrations of the mechanical nightingale left me a deep impression. It gave me the idea to make it into a steampunk-ish project.
Depending on the time the story was written, I did research on both the age of steam and the aesthetic style of Qing dynasty.
To portrait the character of the artificial nightingale and the real nightingale better, I anthropomorphiced these two characters.
I used EVA board in the costume of the artificial nightingale to imitate the texture of metal.
I referred the clothing style in ancient times, especially in Qing dynasty, and made moodboards for those characters.
